Sonam Kapoor To Tie The Knot in Geneva? Deets Inside
Bollywood: Ever since Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli managed to have a secret Italian wedding last year in December, speculations surrounding the weddings of other Bollywood couples including Sonam Kapoor and beau Anand Ahuja and Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have continued to dominate headlines.
In the latest report by Mumbai Mirror, the dates and other details of Sonam and business-man boyfriend Anand Ahuja’s wedding have been revealed and it has been learnt that the 32-year-old actress is set to tie the knot over a two-day ceremony on May 11 and 12 in Geneva.
“The date and venue for the wedding have been locked and mass bookings for flights are presently underway. Her dad Anil Kapoor is personally making phone calls to invite guests. There will be sangeet and mehendi ceremonies, followed by a traditional Hindu wedding,” a source from the wedding planner’s team told Mumbai Mirror.
The source further added, “The nuptials will be preceded by an engagement ceremony attended by the family’s inner circle, but the venue for that is presently not known.”
Initially Jaipur and Udaipur were being considered as the venue. But Sonam, who is the brand ambassador for a luxury Swiss watch manufacturer, was in Geneva in January and decided that the wedding would take place there, according to the report.
Further, fashion industry sources told Mumbai Mirror that Sonam has entrusted family favourites Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla and designer duo Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo with her wedding wardrobe.
Though Sonam has never really spoken publicly about her relationship with Anand, the couple first came into the limelight via Instagram on Anil Kapoor’s 60th birthday celebration in London in December 2016.
Since then, the couple has openly documented their courtship online with their pictures on social media. The two have also been spotted vacationing together at different locale across the world. Apart from that, last May, Anand stood alongside Anil and Sunita Kapoor to cheer as Sonam received the National Award, Special Mention, for her portrayal of Neerja Bhanot in Ram Madhvani’s eponymous directorial.
On Valentine’s Day this year, Sonam exclaimed that she was “the luckiest girl in the world”, sharing pictures of a red rose bouquet from her soon-to-be husband. She also shared a picture of her walking hand-in-hand with Anand from an earlier holiday. It was captioned, “Conquer the devils with a little thing called love. Everyone deserves to love and be loved”.
